PRESS RELEASE
STATE REPRESENTATIVE BRYAN CUTLER
Friends of Bryan Cutler, State Representative
100th District House of Representatives
State Representative Bryan Cutler (R-100th) announced today that he will not seek the 13th
Senatorial seat being vacated by Senator Gibson E. Armstrong at the end of 2008 at this time.
Instead Cutler will continue his campaign to be re-elected to his seat in the State House of
Representatives 100th Legislative District.

"Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have considered running for the Senate seat so soon
after beginning my legislative career.  These were however, extraordinary circumstances."
Cutler said.  State Senator Gibson E. Armstrong who has held the office since 1985, will not run
for re-election next year.

"History has taught us that we should never completely close any door when it comes to
politics." Cutler said.  Currently a number of legislators and their staffers are under investigation
for possible illegal activities regarding bonuses given to the staffers in 2005 and 2006.
Additionally, backlash continues regarding the "middle of the night" pay raise, sitting legislators
awarded themselves in 2005.    "However, I have made the decision not to seek the 13th
Senatorial seat at this time." Cutler said.

Discussing how he came to his decision Representative Cutler explained that the entire process
was viewed through the prism of what would be best for the residents of the 100th Legislative
District.   "Senator Armstrong's announcement was one which took many of us by surprise."
Cutler said.  When news broke about Sen. Armstrong's decision, Representative Cutler was
immediately contacted by supporters from both inside and outside the 100th District, who
wanted to know if he would consider running for the Senate seat.  "It is a humbling feeling to
know that these people have such faith in my abilities and leadership.  They are a diverse group
of loyal supporters whose guidance played a critical role in my victory as State Representative."
Cutler said.  "I have the utmost respect their opinions and expertise.  I felt I owed it to them to
take their appeals seriously."

"I have decided I can best serve my constituents by providing stability in my House seat and
working to build a solid partnership with a new Senator when elected.  I am fortunate to have
an excellent staff, a good working relationship with the municipalities and relationships within the
Harrisburg legislative community that are continuing to grow."  Cutler said.
