Bryan Cutler, candidate for re-election to the State House of Representatives received a
unanimous endorsement from GOP Committee People from the 100th Legislative District, at
this evening's GOP Convention.
"To receive a unanimous endorsement from the committee is a great honor which I very much
appreciate." Cutler said. "I would like to thank the committee and assure them that I intend to
continue working hard to show them their trust in my abilities has not been misplaced."
Bryan Cutler also spoke about the number of legislators statewide who have announced that
they will not be running for re-election this year. At the present time that number stands at 24,
2 of whom were first term legislators. At least one of these new representatives has stated
that their decision not to run for re-election was based on their frustration that they were not
able to make more of a difference in the year they have served.
"Each time a new legislator is elected that District goes back to square one in the legislative
process. Some reasons for stepping away from a seat are valid. For new legislators however,
we owe it to our constituents to be both committed and informed before we decide to run."
Cutler said. "Being informed means understanding how the system works and what you will
personally need to do to expedite change. Reform takes patience and perseverance."
Cutler emphasized that a first term legislator can make a difference in Harrisburg. "It's true that
it's not easy when you're a new legislator to 'break in' to the establishment of Harrisburg. It is
not, however impossible." Cutler said. "There was a significant turnover in our legislature after
the 2006 election and that turnover appears to be continuing in the 2008 race. I truly believe
that this shift will bode well for the residents of Pennsylvania."
"I look forward to the possibility of continuing to represent the residents of the 100th Legislative
District in the future." Cutler said. "I am proud that I have gone through the first stage of the
re-election process with such a high level of support."
